ETIHAD SUMMER FESTIVAL - Day 3 Round Up
The 2011 Etihad Summer Cricket Festival T20 tournament has come to a end with Trinidad and Tobago winning the championship. The Caribbean T20 championship side breezed through an easy win over Canada in the de-facto final on Saturday. Canada lost early wickets after winning the toss and electing to bat. While no Canadian batsmen was able to get going, the tail wagged slightly to get Canada over the 100 mark finishing on 113-9 in 20 overs.
In reply, Adrian Barath carried the game away from Canada as the diminutive opener's half century shook off the loss of early wickets and delivered the championship for his team.
T&T, Canada and Afghanistan all finished with 2-1 records however T&T"s superior runrate was enough to put them over the top.
Earlier in the day, USA and Afghanistan clashed in a one sided affair. While Afghanistan stalled midway through their innings and settled for 160 when more was on the cards, their win was never really in doubt as USA capitulated for 116. The fight and grit for the USA eventually cost Afghanistan the title as their runrate slipped well below that of T&T
