CRICKET CANADA ANNOUNCES 2013 AUTY CUP
Cricket Canada is pleased to announce dates for the well reputed "world's oldest international sporting fixture", the K.A. Auty Cup.
The tour consisting of a two-day match, followed by a 50-over contest and two Twenty20 matches will take place from July 25th - 28th.
In an effort to move international cricket throughout the country, Cricket Canada has engaged with Cricket Alberta to play the 2013 fixture in Edmonton at the picturesque inner city cricket venue of Victoria Park.
The turf wickets at Victoria Park are the 2nd most northerly turf installations in the world, second only to Mannofield CC in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The square was installed in 2011 by former Sydney Cricket Ground curator Peter Leroy and has hosted Cricket Canada's NCL Western Division Championship as well as regular fixtures in the Edmonton and District Cricket League premier division.
If the bid is successfull this would be the third instance since 1963 that the series has been held in Alberta, with Calgary hosting in both 1965 and 1991.
