Despite the cold and wet weather, Ontario and BC clashed in the finals of the Cricket Canada National T20 league on Saturday. Frigid temperatures greeted both teams but a delayed start, broadcast live around the world on www.gocricketgocanada.com, saw temperatures creep towards double digits by mid afternoon.
With poor weather looming for the afternoon and on Sunday both teams knew the series would come down to one game and with that in mind BC captain Jimmy Hansra put his team into bat first.
Ontario's Henry Osinde and Jeremy Gordon, bowling quick under difficult conditions, hemmed the BC batsmen in and none of them got off to positives starts . Gordon with 2 wickets accounted for Balkiaz Khan (1) and Jason Sandher (32) and snuffed out any hope of a big score for the visitors. Tyrone Roberts (2-13) and Rizwan Cheema (1-13) were among the other wickets as BC was restricted to 85-7 in 20 overs.
Ontario's openers Hiral Patel (28) and Khushroo Wadia (50) set about positively in the chase and though Patel fell late in the innings, the stage was set for a comprehensive Ontario victory.
Rizwan Cheema was named man of the series for his heroics earlier in the week as Ontario were deservingly named 2011 T20 National League Champions
