Ruvindu Gunasekera's 97 ball 2nd innings century ensured that Canada would retain the Teacher's Whiskey Auty Cup in what was the 71st installement of the historic two day contest between Canada and the USA.

On day 1 and after Cansda registered a 1st innings total of 229, USA head coach Robin Singh would've felt a first innings victory for his side possible as Canada probably fell a bit short of their desired total.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Canada, for their part, opened the day well on the back of a strong start from openers Ruvindu Gunasekera (72 from 164 balls) and Trevin Bastiampillai (55 from 91 balls).  Although most of the middle order got starts, no one kicked on leaving some work for the lower order.  A useful contribution from limited overs skipper Rizwan Cheema (31 from 57 balls) pushed the Canadian total to the defendable 1st innings score of 229.

Canada were able to capture the prized scalp of the dangerous Steven Taylor late on day 1 as the USA were 20-1 at the end of play.

Day 2 brought nervous optimisim in the Canadian camp as the bowlers backed themselves to retain the cup on a 1st innings lead.  Although USA sat within sniffing distance mid way through the day at 134-5 with useful contributions from Timothy Surujbally (24 from 48), Ravi Timbawala (44 from 115) and Karan Ganesh (25 from 83), the Canadian bowling trio of Harvir Baidwan (3-27), Cecil Pervez (2-29), Salman Nazar (3-45) ensured that Canada would retain the Auty Cup.

With a first inninds lead of 45 runs, Canada set out to bat the balance of the match.  Ruvindu Gunasekera smashed a not out 97 ball century that included 11 fours and 3 sixes to seal the match for Canada.
